The Baptism of Simeon Osman Gutierrez in Colombia

Bogota, Colombia July 07-2013

Thee presence of important people in any event magnifies the event any where in the world. Thus, the presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Baptism of Jesus is magnified.

"The Mark"

In Peru the month of August is the month of marking the cattle. The horses and cows are branded with hot iron on the buttock.

To the llamas, the sheep and the smaller animals they only mark with a hole in the ear and put colored ribbons for identification according to the size and color as the sign of property.

Baptism is a sign of God's covenant with his people. In the Old Testament the child was circumcised and that is the origin of baptism.

Jesus was circumcised and baptized to join the old and new covenant as one and since then the sign of the covenant is baptism with water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Let the whole world know that Simeon is not like any other child but he is a child of the Covenant. And since this is a sacrament it also has a spiritual dimension.

The act of baptism in its simplicity is a proclamation of faith and obedience of the parents who bring their children into the Tabernacle of the Covenant.

Heaven, earth, principalities and powers will know from this day forward that this child is marked by God with the Blood of Jesus on his chest that says, "Simeon is mine"

As such Simeon has all the rights and benefits of the Son of God and the privilege to personally pray with Jesus: "Our Father who are in heaven"

Simeon also is entitled to the prayers of Jesus and his people and so cared for that in the future his life will be so full of protection as a strong fence around him.

They will say of Simeon from the mouth of the demons: "Who is in the center of that circle of Prayer" to which others demons will answer: "We do not know, but he must be a great one for we can not even see who it is."

Beloved friends; its therefore our responsibility to pray for Nathaniel and Alicia to raise a man of God in Simeon that honors its name which means: The God waiter or Judge of God!

Today, following the example of Jesus, Simeon is baptized as the son of believing parents and we will do so remembering the baptism of Jesus. Matthew 3: 13 to 4:1

The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

This is the Will of God!'

Just as Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. Simeon and every believer will be tempted by the devil. We can therefore conclude that a temptation is the battlefield of life. Victory can only be achieved through resistance of temptation. Jesus resisted the temptation and the devil fled from Him

The Church is called to prevail and not to take by assault the towers or gates of Hell. We are not better or stronger than Jesus. The servant is not greater than his master.

Pray for Simeon as well as ourselves that God will not lead us into temptation, but that if it is His will that we be guided as Job into temptation; then ask "Deliver us from Evil one" and not just evil.

Because we are not on earth to fight sins but against "Sin" who is not a "bad act" but a person who is called "the evil one" who is the Father of Lies and God's enemy as well as our enemy.

Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of darkness who like a roaring lion is seeking whom to devour.

Simeon you must never forget that our war in this world and not in the Visible world, but the invisible. The Visible does not last, but the Invisible is forever. "Heaven and Earth will pass away but God's Word never passes away " God the Father said: "This is my son whom I love in him I am well pleased"

"Listen to Him"

Jesus said, "It is necessary that your baptize me" Thus, in obedience to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit I baptize Simeon in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

It's our way of saying to the Father: "Father we have heard Jesus your beloved Son"

From now on he is marked on the chest as yours! As a newborn lamb of the sheep belongs to the shepherd, so does Simeon as newborn son of Nathaniel and Alicia belongs to you oh great shepherd of the sheep of God.
