Mary Visits Elizabeth. - Luke 1: 39-45.
39 In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country,40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit 42 and exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? 44 For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leapt for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.’
This is the account of two pregnant women whose names are Mary and Elizabeth. But in reality it is the story of the visit of Jesus to John the Baptist his cousin. This is the truth-filled account of two persons yet to be born but with the capacity to display feelings of joy even in the womb.
The validity of this idea is in the testimony of the Holy Spirit who makes sure to speak of the blessed event through Elizabeth in a loud voice.
Faith is present as a gift from God where the favor of the Lord rests. It becomes our blessing when we believe and receiving that gift.
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. “Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord said to her will be accomplished”.
To take Jesus at his word is what faith is all about. Faith is by hearing and hearing is by the Word of God spoken through Jesus who is the very Word of God. The Holy Spirit uses the Word to produce in us saving faith. Faith is the awakening to the reality that was always ours; even before the birth of the universe.
Blessed is he or she who believes for it will come to pass to them the ever-prevailing Will of God. The conscious heavenly joy will be their inheritance while they are still on Earth.
We too, are yet to be born to the fullness of the life in heaven that is already hours in Jesus from eternity to eternity.
PS. Congratulations my Pro Life Friends. Pray that the Life of Jesus may live in us all as the hope of glory.
